Success in Duke of Edinburgh

Posted 20th July 2022

450 students at Dixons Brooklands Academy have achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) certificate this year.

These students started their award during the Covid-19 Pandemic and, not letting lockdown deter them, found ways to contribute to their DofE work during the restrictions by adapting their efforts to include volunteering to help neighbours who were isolating, litter picking in their streets and learning new skills at home.

Each of the students have displayed our values of kindness, integrity and hard work in their drive to complete their bronze awards. Although they have missed many things because of lockdowns, they have ploughed on with their award work to become the largest group of students to achieve their awards so far.

As well as this, we have had several students in Year 11 successfully complete their silver award. Well done to everyone!
