Student leadership
At Dixons Brooklands Academy, student leadership plays a central role in shaping our school community and driving continuous improvement. Our student council is at the heart of this, providing a structured platform for student voice and empowering young leaders to contribute meaningfully to academy life.
Each advisory group elects a representative through a democratic process. The representatives collect the views and ideas of their peers and bring them to council meetings, ensuring that every student has a voice in shaping their school experience. This approach guarantees that decisions reflect the wider student body, not just a few individuals.
The student council leads on key areas such as school events and initiatives, and recent discussions have focused on topics like PE kit policy, praise systems, and the development of extra-curricular clubs. Through this, students influence real change and help shape the direction of the academy.
Beyond their impact on the school, student leadership opportunities also support personal growth. Representatives develop confidence, communication skills, and leadership qualities that will benefit them far beyond their time at our academy.
We believe student voice is essential to our mission of continuous improvement, and we are committed to ensuring it remains a vital part of our academy’s development.
